Hi, my name is Christopher Monnier.
I am a user experience generalist who is interested in improving the human experience. I love distilling complex and ambiguous processes into intuitive and enjoyable user experiences.
Here are some events of significance for me:
- 1980: I was born.
- 1992: I competed on a 4x100 relay team at the Junior Olympics. The anchor of the team was Derek Abney.
- 1997: I spent three weeks in Germany (for German class) and began to realize how fascinating the world really is.
- 1998: As a nerd, I watched Nightline actually fairly regularly and actually saw the original broadcast of the IDEO shopping cart video and my curiosity was piqued.
- 1998: I graduated from high school as co-valedictorian (even though technically I got an A- in the final sememster of my senior year).
- 1998-2003: I started college at the Univeresity of Minnesota as a civil engineering major and after considering psychology and marketing eventually ended up with a degree in mechanical engineering
- 2003-2006: During graduate school at the University of Minnesota, I realized that I was more interested in how people use products than how they're constructed.
- 2005: I began working full time at Guidant as a mechanical engineer.
- 2006: I got married.
- 2007: I moved laterally at Boston Scientific (formerly Guidant) and switched from a mechanical engineer to a human factors engineer. Best. Move. Ever.
- 2007-2010: At Boston Scientific, I had the good fortune of working in the entire spectrum of user-centered design, from contextual interviews with users to designing novel user interfaces to formative and summative usabilty testing. I was also able to travel throughout the United States and also to Europe and Asia.
- 2010-present: I now work in the fast-pased and diverse world of consulting, where I work with a diverse set of clients to conceptualize new ways to solve old problems. I love it becuase every project comes with new challenges and opportunities for innovation are rampant.
